Hilarie Burton has defended Sophia Bush after Erin Foster claimed she had an affair with Chad Michael Murray during their relationship.
The 41-year-old actress refuted Foster’s claims on Instagram on Friday.
Using the app’s Stories feature, she posted a news article about the allegation with the caption: “Ooof. Cringe. I got off my red-eye flight and several people sent me this headline.”
She added: “Like the person who was sitting in the front row at the time? It wasn’t that. We were all told that you were divorced and so was our husband [pursuing] her. It is now being invented to make my sister look like a rude whore.”
She vehemently defended her good friend, adding: “And if she’s anyone’s whore, it’s mine!”

Burton went straight to the source of the drama when she tagged Foster in her post.
“I’m happy to talk about @erinfoster,” she wrote, adding, “You deserve the truth too.”
The note continued: “There are so many unnamed sources making claims about the woman I love, so screw it. I will be a cited source. Many voices on the internet are evil, and as a person who true time frame? It would be ridiculous if that were the case [weren’t] so painful.’
Foster claimed her then-boyfriend Chad cheated on her during her romantic relationship with his One Tree Hill co-star Sophia.
Speaking to her sister Sara Foster on the world’s first podcast, the actress, who dated Murray from 2001 to 2002, addressed the alleged affair after a fan messaged her asking to share dating stories.
Referring to a post previously published on gossip website DeuxMoi which said Murray had “apparently cheated” on her, Erin confirmed: “I mean, yeah. He definitely cheated on me with her pretty clearly.
She added: “While we were living together. Pretty cool.”
Erin’s revelation comes amid Bush’s new romance with women’s soccer star Ashlyn Harris, 39 – whose recent ex-wife Ali Krieger reportedly confirmed that Harris cheated on her with Bush before he filed for divorce in mid-September.

Hilarie and Sophia have maintained a close friendship in the years since they stopped working together on One Tree Hill.
This week, Burton took to social media to share a photo of the two during the Los Angeles leg of her book tour.
In a gushing caption, she wrote: “My love @sophiabush dropped everything to host @livetalksla’s Los Angeles stop on my Grimoire Girl book tour.” And of course we both arrived in black velvet. She is my Owen’s sister. LOOK.’
She added in a heartfelt message: “A lot of people will tell you they love you. But when someone goes your way and shows up and ACTIVELY loves you? Keep them. Appreciate them. Protect you.
“We had a fantastic conversation about the book, which is still on sale for virtual viewers. And we drank midnight margaritas, held hands and cried about where we came from and where we’re going.”
The former MTV VJ concluded: “I’m so lucky to be with this woman for twenty years who is in the pages of my personal grimoire. But the next 20??? We’re just getting started. Sophia. Step in step. Me and you baby. You are so deeply good. I love you.’
Bush and Murray started dating in 2003 and tied the knot in 2005. The couple exchanged vows at a ceremony in Santa Monica before celebrating with a reception at Hotel Casa del Mar.
They broke up just five months later. At the time, Murray was rumored to have cheated on his new wife with House of Wax co-star Paris Hilton.

Bush tried to have the marriage annulled on the grounds of fraud, but her efforts were unsuccessful and the divorce was finalized in 2006.
“This is a difficult and unfortunate situation. I’m glad the issue will be resolved sooner rather than later,” she said in a statement shared with PEOPLE at the time.
She reflected on the relationship in 2014, saying on Watch What Happens Live: “We were two stupid kids who didn’t really have anything to do with a relationship.”
