“I smoked more, I did not sleep at night”: Shatunov’s friend revealed the cause of the artist’s death

The singer was exhausted by problems at work.

June 23 marks the one year anniversary of the death of Yuri Shatunov, the idol of the 80s. His life was taken by a heart attack. Admirers of the artist’s work and friends to this day are deeply moved by the loss. Some of his acquaintances have only now found the strength to interpret their own version of the death of the former lead singer of the Laskovy May group.

Sergei Serkov was Shatunov’s colleague in the first Soviet boyband. He caught the peak of the team’s fame and its decline. All this time he maintained contact with Yuri and knew what nerves a lawsuit with project producer Andrei Razin cost him. He did not want to give Shatunov the rights to perform songs. Serkov believes this played an important role in the artist’s death.

“Because of this situation, he smoked more, did not sleep at night, worried, which led to his sudden death,” Serkov explains.

Sergei told Teleprogram that the heart attack that claimed Yuri Shatunov’s life was not diagnosed in advance. And the artist could attribute the symptoms of his approach to fatigue from the tour. Serkov recalled that signs of the disease appear in all rounds. Especially if an artist works on several concerts at the same time.
