Fred Ward dies at 79: The Right Stuff actor dies

Hollywood actor Fred Ward died on May 8 at the age of 79, the press official announced on Friday.

Born in San Diego, she started her career in the 1970s and has appeared in many famous movies including Tremors, Henry & June, Sweet Home Alabama and Enough.

He is best known for his role as Gus Grissom in the 1983 US space program film The Right Stuff, opposite Sam Shepard and Dennis Quaid.

Ward died on Sunday, press secretary Ron Hoffman announced this week, and no cause of death or place of death has been shared, as his family had requested, according to The Hollywood Journalist.

Part of the Cherokee, Ward had a background in boxing, which led him to play the role of a tough, grumpy kid on the big screen.
