The film will be released by Lionsgate on April 28 and will be directed and adapted by Kelly Fremon Craig. Blume was also a producer.

This is the first time Judy has allowed her literary work to be filmed and she is a producer of the film.
She was also on set to film the iconic scene in which Margaret and her friends sing, “We must, we must, we must enlarge our bust!” hoping to accelerate the growth of her breasts.
