Gwyneth Paltrow was mocked on social media Tuesday for wearing aviator-style reading glasses during her skiing attempt in Utah, drawing comparisons to killer Jeffrey Dahmer.
The 50-year-old actress wore the oversized glasses with a cream knit sweater and tweed harem pants to the opening day of a Utah court case over a 2016 skiing accident involving a retired optometrist.
“Jeffrey Dahmer’s glasses,” one commenter wrote in response to a news report in which Gwyneth was wearing the glasses.
“I love their serial killer vibe,” read another comment.
Dahmer, also known as the Milwaukee Cannibal, was a serial killer and sex offender who murdered and dismembered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991 and wore similar glasses in his 1991 mugshot.

Paltrow and Terry Sanderson, the man they sued, sat across from each other in a Park City courtroom as their attorneys made opening statements that gave strikingly different accounts of the accident. Both called their clients victims and blamed the other for the collision at Deer Valley, one of the nation’s top ski resorts.
The pair showed little emotion as lawyers questioned their credibility and version of events on the first day of the trial, which is expected to last eight days. Sanderson’s attorneys said they plan to call Paltrow to the witness stand to testify Friday, but may do so earlier in the week depending on the availability of the other witnesses.
Paltrow shielded her face from photographers with a blue notebook initialed “GP” as she entered and left the courtroom. Dressed in a gray suit, Sanderson walked halfway before witnesses began testifying.
