Ed Sheeran breaks down in tears in the first trailer for his new documentary series, The Sum Of It All.
The 32-year-old singer will chart the ups and downs of his life on his journey to stardom in the four-part series on Disney+, which airs May 3.
The clip opens with Ed talking about his childhood, growing up with a stutter, saying, “This man is not going to be a pop star.” It is so unlikely.
Videos from Ed’s childhood are juxtaposed with clips of him on stage during his sold-out arena tours.
Viewers are taken from the early days of his career to see how he started and worked his way up in the industry.

Ed describes meeting his best friend Jamal Edwards, who gave him his first big break, and their friendship before his sudden death last year.
Jamal, a music producer and son of Loose Women star Brenda Edwards, tragically died in February 2022 aged 31 after suffering a cardiac arrest due to cocaine and alcohol use.
Ed’s wife Cherry Seaborn also appears in the documentary series, with clips of her pregnant with the couple’s two children, Lyra, two, and Jupiter, 10 months.
The pair go on a date together, with Ed saying, “Everything in my life got so much better when Cherry came into it.”
However, the series also touches on Cherry’s health issues and the toll they have taken on the couple.
Ed recently revealed the couple were plagued by “anxiety, depression and anxiety” as Cherry was diagnosed with a tumor she was only able to treat after giving birth to their second child.

So far, Ed has only released a snippet of the upcoming song.
He sings: “This is how I dance with my eyes closed.

Ed breaks down in tears in the car as his friend’s death, compounded by Cherry’s health problems, becomes overwhelming.
A clip of him crying on stage is also shown, with Cherry saying, “I’ve never seen him cry on stage.”
She adds: “He didn’t have time to process his thoughts and come to terms with them.”
The trailer ends with cheerful footage of Ed celebrating his birthday, performing on stage and laughing with his friends as he says that “life can be unpredictable”.
It comes after Ed revealed the first single from his new album Subtract was dedicated to his late friend Jamal.
Eyes Closed, the lead single from Ed’s new album Subtract, is out March 24.
Ed recently announced the release of his sixth studio album, saying it was inspired by personal tragedies he had to deal with.
The Shape Of You singer revealed to his 42 million followers on Instagram on Wednesday that the loss of his good friend inspired the track and that he “dances with his eyes closed to get through it”.
Alongside the post, he wrote: “Eyes Closed comes out March 24th, you can pre-order now.
“This song is about losing someone, feeling like every time you go out you expect to run into them, and everything just reminds you of them and things you did together.

Alongside the photos, the singer posted two black-and-white photos that show him thoughtfully reflecting on the emotional toll of the past few years.
Subtract is out May 5th on Asylum Records and Atlantic Records. It is said to be similar to the hitmaker’s previous works, with an acoustic feel.
