Saturday Kitchen presenter Matt Tebbutt got more than he bargained for after confidently declaring he could handle a dosa of “10 out of 10” on the heat scale.
The 49-year-old presenter gasped and covered his mouth in shock after biting into the thin pancake made by mother-daughter trio Mumbai Mix.
In the entertainment segment, Matt was asked how spicy he wanted his curry-filled dosa and the host told them he could handle the “10 on 10” heat.
As his co-stars ate pre-made dosas at the table, one of them warned, “If it’s five out of ten, I’m interested if you can finish 10 out of ten.”

While Mumbai Mix said they thought he would take the heat well, Matt had a healthy bite – only for the chilli to touch his lips.
He told them, “It’s much hotter than what I tried yesterday.”
The host struggled to wave his hands and his eyes watered as he urged them to keep talking, before telling them: “I’ll put more into it as soon as I can handle it.”
Home viewers said the scenes were “priceless”.

A third viewer asked: “Was it a bit spicy?” while a fourth fan teases, “You haven’t eaten much of your level 10 dosas!”
“Nice to see Matt brave enough to go for an A, or was it more of a decision by the rest of the team who wanted to see him suffer?” wrote another.
Elsewhere on the show, Fleur East made a pithy comment as she helped prepare a dish of mussels.
