The eldest son in the family is his son, Levi Alves McConaughey, 14 years old, born in 2008. Levi burst onto the scene about four years before his parents’ wedding. He is very similar to his father and likes to surf and spend time outdoors. Most recently, Matthew took to Instagram to showcase Levi’s surfing “memorabilia” on March 2, 2023. “Surfing memorabilia,” he captioned alongside a photo of the teen’s bandaged back. There! Camila also shared an adorable photo of the 53-year-old man cutting his son’s hair on Feb. 26, 2023. “Then this happened…” she captioned the hilarious snap.

Two years before Matthew and the brunette were married, they welcomed their daughter, Vita Alves McConaughey, 13, in 2010. Vida is the only girl on the McConaughey-Alves team, making her her father’s best girlfriend. In October 2020, the green lights the author opened up about parenting a PEOPLE. “The only thing I knew I wanted was to be a father,” he told the agency at the time. “And it’s still the pinnacle for me. Being a father has always been my only dream. …I can’t think of anything more important.”

Finally his family is complete with the youngest son, Livingstone Alves McConaughey, 10, born in 2012. Notably, Livingston was born the same year the duo tied the knot and clearly made the best wedding gift that year. Most recently, Matthew took to Instagram to share an adorable moment of him walking his 10-year-old son on March 10, 2023. “Son until sunset,” he captioned alongside the stunning pic.
In June 2020, Matthew spoke with City and country about her and Camila’s parenting style. “Sometimes loving your children means giving them exactly what they want. Other times it means tough love,” she shared at the time. “The rich may give their children what they want, but usually they won’t get what they need. Loving a child is much harder if you really care.
Before that, he shared what being a parent has taught him over the years during a 2013 interview with PEOPLE. “What you learn when you have kids is that they think in four dimensions,” Matthew said. “I’m going to tell you a story about a cheetah who ran and befriended a horse, then a river passed and they separated. Then I say, ‘The end.’ but Levi [replies], “Well, no, the cheetah grew wings and flew back over the river.” There is no end, so keep going on and on!
