Tamara Ecclestone’s father-in-law, David Rutland, has died.
Her husband, Jay Rutland (41), shared the sad news of his father’s death on Instagram on Thursday and wrote how sad he is. No cause of death was given.
Jay wrote: “Absolutely gutted to write this. A day I always worried about, but much sooner than I ever expected.
“Dad, I love you and miss you more than you can ever imagine. You loved my girls so much and I know how much joy it brought you to see what they were up to.’
“You’ve called me so many times in disbelief after seeing what Fifi has achieved recently. I am so incredibly sad that they will not see you again.
“I think that’s what hurts the most. The little bond you already had with Riri hurts my heart.
Tamara Ecclestone’s father-in-law has passed away: the star’s heartbroken husband Jay Rutland (pictured) took to Instagram on Thursday to pay tribute to his beloved father David (left).

Home is where the heart is: Jay shared this family photo with his mum Marji and dad, (right) wife Tamara (far left) and daughters Sophia, eight, and Serena, two
“I’m so glad we were able to do the things we did together and I hope you knew how much you were loved by all your family.”
He continued: “You were a unique man, not one with many emotions or feelings, but when I saw your iPad screensaver Fifi last night, I laughed and cried at the same time.
“I’m more than sad now that you’re gone, but they say sadness is the price we pay for love.
“God bless daddy you are with Mark now and we will all meet again one day X.”
A large number of famous friends took to the comments section to pay their respects to her.
Footballer Jack Wilshere wrote: “So sorry for your loss Jay. Thinking about you.’
Musician Professor Green wrote: “Sorry mate x”
Denise Van Outen’s ex Eddie Boxshall wrote: “Thinking of you Jay and all your family. X’
Tamara then took to her own Instagram to share a photo of her father-in-law and mother-in-law with Jay and their two children, Sophia and Serena.
She wrote: “I will miss my father-in-law very much. He was a man of few words. I can be pretty sure that at first he thought some of my ideas were pretty crazy, including the dog steps for the little dogs to get into bed.
“Anyone who knows Dave can offer his thoughts on this. He didn’t share my love of birthdays or cakes, but I persevered anyway.
“I was determined to change that. I know how much he loved our girls, crazy and annoying he called them.
“I will miss his voice on the phone when he called Jay, he would always ask how is the baby? And always talking so proudly about Fifi that he really believed she couldn’t help it. He was amazed by her skiing, her singing. He was full of pride.
“Although I’ve never changed my mind about cakes or birthdays, I think he respected me for being the girl’s mother because he thought it was perfect.”
Whenever Jay would call Fifi off for screen time, Dave would always say leave her alone, she’s fine, much to Fifi’s delight.
“Unfortunately, I had to deliver this heartbreaking news to Fifi, one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Our little girl said that maybe Grandpa Dave can box with her friend Azuma in heaven and went on to say that she would never let Riri forget him.
“Dave was a man who never judged, never interfered. He was so proud of his children and grandchildren.
“I am proud to know him. I will miss our roast beef and chicken pies. I will miss him.”
