The producer of “Saboteur” revealed the secret of the resurrection of Vlad Galkin

Actor Vladislav Galkin died 12 years ago, but the image of Captain Kaltygin that he created in the TV series Saboteur fell in love with many viewers. The creators of the continuation of the project went on an incredible experiment, creating the image of the artist with the help of artificial intelligence.

The producer of the series, Nikolay Popov, told how difficult it was to create a digital twin of Vladislav Galkin. About 100 people who resembled Galkin were selected to mimic his image.

“We took test shots with each suitable candidate and checked for compliance in various situations – in the dark, on the move, with a hat, in the snow. As a result, the choice was limited to one candidate with a 90% match in facial anthropometry,” the producer said.

Then came the advanced technology. A copy of the artist’s face was created for 21 days based on the analysis of previous episodes of “Saboteur”.

“Artificial intelligence generated the resulting model on top of the stunt double’s face. In mimicking the voice, we also used neural networks trained on the original audio recordings,” Popov is quoted as saying by Channel One’s press service.

It was previously reported that the premiere of the new season of the series “Saboteur. Ideal Storm” will be held on Channel One on May 9.
