Chris Walker had strong support following his split from Carrie Bickmore.

On Saturday, ABC’s Leigh Sales and Carrie’s former The Project co-star Peter Helliar both supported the controversial producer in a series of Instagram stories.

Leigh posed with Chris in a photo believed to have been taken during a pub crawl with Chris, Peter, comedian Anthony Lehmann and cricketer Adam Gilchrist.

Peter wrapped his arm around Chris in a second photo, which Leigh captioned: “Enjoying being a man of honor for the Arvo with these top guys.”

Carrie announced the couple’s split in an Instagram post on Wednesday morning, saying the couple was focused on raising their three children together. The couple had been in a relationship for 11 years.

“It is with great sadness that Chris and I have decided to separate,” she wrote.

“While this is a difficult time, we are focused on raising, loving and supporting our three children, Ollie, Evie and Addie, with everything we have.

“They are fine, we are not making any further announcements.”

Carrie and Chris’ love story won the hearts of Australians.

They met as colleagues on The Project – she was a host and he was a producer – and they started dating in late 2012, two years after she married her husband Greg Lange, the father of their eldest child Ollie, 15. lost to brain cancer.

Despite his terminal diagnosis, Carrie Langue got married in 2005 when she was just 25 years old.

After Langue died in 2010 aged 35, a widow Carrie set up the charity Bickmore’s Beanies for Brain Cancer in his memory.

Two years later, Carrie found love again with Walker, who became Oliver’s stepfather and with whom she later had two daughters: Evie, born in 2015, and Adelaide, born in 2018.
