Released on Liam’s birthday, Flowers appears to include a reference to the former couple’s Malibu home burning down during the California wildfires – as well as some awkward red carpet moments between the pair.

In the first verse, Miley sings that they “built a house and watched it burn,” likely referring to the $2.5 million home she lived in with Liam that burned down in the 2018 fires.

She also references the Australian star’s sudden divorce filing, singing: “I didn’t mean to leave you / I didn’t mean to lie / started to cry.”

“I can make myself dance” is likely a reference to an infamous red carpet moment in which Liam visibly turned to Miley’s twerking.

Photos from February 2019 show the tension between then-newlyweds Miley and Liam.

In the footage, Miley teased Liam during a red carpet interview together.

The Hunger Games actor quickly walked away from his bride looking uncomfortable.

‘Do not. Don’t do it,” he begged her. “You’re scaring everyone on the mat.”
