Celebrity tarot reader Angie Banicki has offered predictions on this year's Emmy winners, the marriage of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce, and the political future of Spencer Pratt, in an exclusive reading given to the Daily Mail.
Banicki has spent years pulling cards for stars including Billie Eilish, Lea Michele, Blink-182 and the cast of Vanderpump Rules, and her work has earned a nod from Gwyneth Paltrow's wellness brand Goop. She also reads for celebrities on her podcast, Cards on the Table, and has designed her own tarot deck.
Sydney Sweeney's Emmy snub
Euphoria star Zendaya picked up an Emmy nomination this year for her role as Rue Bennett, but her co-star Sydney Sweeney, with whom she is rumored to be feuding, was snubbed. According to Banicki's cards, Sweeney is too happy in her relationship with Scooter Braun, whom she has been dating for a year, to let the snub bother her.
Using a deck she designed herself, Banicki pulled a card inspired by Braun to answer how Sweeney felt about Zendaya's nomination. "It reads, 'She can be patient,' and then it shows me my card that's my Scooter Braun card," Banicki said. "Scooter's in my deck. And we ask, how does Sydney feel? She can be patient and then Scooter. You know, she found love! She doesn't need the awards."
Comedy series predictions
Banicki's cards favored Nobody Wants This and Margo's Got Money Troubles for Outstanding Comedy Series, though the two shows entered the category with very different nomination counts: Nobody Wants This had just one nomination compared with four for Margo's Got Money Troubles.
"I think Nobody Wants This is winning, and it's almost like they're going into it thinking they're not," Banicki said. "They're sort of like, 'We didn't win last year, look what we're up against.' And then I think they're winning it."
Of the Elle Fanning-led Margo's Got Money Troubles, Banicki said the cards "love" the show, calling it "the best pull so far." She added, "I think Margo's Got Money Troubles is winning it all."
Drama and other categories
Other nominees Banicki weighed in on included Your Friends and Neighbors, Hacks, The Bear, and Matthew Rhys. She was skeptical of Your Friends and Neighbors taking Outstanding Drama Series: "This one's gonna win some, but I don't think it's this."
She saw controversy brewing around Hacks in the comedy race. "It shows me the fight for it," she said, adding that a card depicting a crying figure suggested voters were "questioning whether they deserve it," and wondering aloud whether the show might instead pick up a Golden Globe.
The Bear also came up strong in her reading. "It's so funny how it's showing me like someone's winning from there... I see The Bear winning some, but I can't tell if it's best show," she said. She also predicted a win for Widow's Bay actor Matthew Rhys: "Matthew Rhys is gonna win something."
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's marriage
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce married in a star-studded ceremony at Madison Square Garden in July, and Banicki's cards show the newlyweds still basking in wedded bliss. "More than anything, it feels like it was the highlight of his life," she said of Kelce. "Maybe they're a little annoyed by some of the people that are sharing things... It's subtle."
The wedding was reportedly shrouded in secrecy, with NDAs issued to guests beforehand, but Banicki doesn't see it staying private forever. "We're gonna find out more about that wedding in a way, like they're definitely doing something that feels really exciting for how they're going to share it with the world," she said. "It still feels like they're figuring some of that out, or maybe there are pieces that haven't been fully decided."
Banicki also sees children in the couple's future, though not immediately. "They're gonna have babies," she said. "The cards really want to scream like 'This started the next phase of their life.'"
"Not overthinking it right now," she said. "They're in their wedding bliss, knowing that's part of the future. She's gonna be a working mom... we are in no rush." Banicki suggested the timeline could shift by next summer. "I feel like they're taking almost until next summer. It feels like they want to be really slow and deliberate with it," she said. "They're not trying yet... I'm getting baby girl vibes. Yep, I'm getting a baby girl."
Spencer Pratt's political future
Banicki's cards also addressed former reality star Spencer Pratt, who ran for mayor of Los Angeles after losing his home in last year's Los Angeles wildfires. His campaign gained attention but ultimately fell short.
"It was very fated and I thought he was gonna win. I thought he was gonna win because it showed me destiny," Banicki said. She doesn't believe Pratt is finished with politics. "Give him time. He's not done. I see him either running again," she said. "I see him in leadership."
"He's all about injustice," she added. "There's almost like a part of him that's just like, 'I'm gonna get myself back out there.' This is his path and growth. What he, I think, discovered about himself through this is that he wants to help injustice, and I actually think there's some good to it. There is a place for him in politics, and it's gonna make sense."
What the results showed
The Emmy Awards themselves later confirmed a mixed record for Banicki's predictions. Widow's Bay, not Nobody Wants This or Margo's Got Money Troubles, took home Outstanding Comedy Series, while The Pitt won Outstanding Drama Series. Matthew Rhys did win, as Banicki foresaw, picking up trophies for both Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow's Bay and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series for The Beast in Me, becoming the first actor to win two leading actor awards in one night.
