People with coronary heart disease should watch for specific warning signs that may signal an oncoming heart attack, a cardiologist has said.
Natalya Solovyeva, a cardiologist at the Semeynaya clinic network, told the outlet Lenta.ru that a change in the nature of chest pain is a key red flag. She said that if chest pain intensifies and feels squeezing, pressing, or burning, or if it is a new symptom the person has never experienced before, they should call an ambulance as quickly as possible.
Solovyeva also said that a sudden onset of shortness of breath at rest can signal the beginning of a heart attack. She described an autonomic response to chest pain as an additional alarm signal, including cold sweats, unexplained fear, nausea, and sometimes vomiting.
Other symptoms she listed include weakness, dizziness with no change in blood pressure, and a sudden rapid heartbeat.
