Bruce Willis appeared in a rare photograph alongside his youngest daughter Tallulah at her wedding over the past weekend in Hailey, Idaho. The 71-year-old star, who retired from Hollywood following a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia in 2023, was pictured smiling while embracing his daughter in a black and white image published by Vogue on Friday.
The Die Hard actor draped his right arm over Tallulah's shoulders as she sweetly leaned in for a hug. Her new husband, Justin Acee, also appeared in the photo as he shook hands with Willis, who held a smile on his face. Willis was dressed for the special occasion in a button-up shirt, trousers, and a fedora, while Tallulah wore a sleeveless Alaia dress that stopped a few inches below her knees and held a bouquet of flowers.
In a description for the image, Tallulah wrote, "A tender moment with my dad and Justin at the start of wedding weekend." Representatives for Willis have been reached out to by the Daily Mail for comment, but have not yet responded.
Tallulah and Acee exchanged vows during an outdoor ceremony held in the spacious backyard of her family home in Hailey, a city located in central Idaho. The property holds deep personal significance for the bride, who spent much of her upbringing there.
"It's the place where I learned to run free and be the dreamer that I am today," Tallulah told Vogue. "Justin and I have spent so much time up there that even though it has such emotional pull for me, he feels very much a part of the fabric of the property."
Following the wedding weekend, Tallulah expressed that she feels "overwhelmed with gratitude and delight to begin this next chapter," adding that the ceremony was "more than my wildest dreams."
Bridal Style and Idaho Reception
For the main wedding ceremony, Tallulah wore a custom Balenciaga strapless gown designed by the brand's creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli. The gown featured a bow bustle and a flowy train in the back. She paired the dress with elbow-length gloves and swept her hair into a classic updo.
Just days before tying the knot, Tallulah held her dress fitting at the iconic Chateau Marmont hotel in West Hollywood. She reflected on her vision for the dress and her journey to finding personal confidence ahead of her big day.
"My biggest hope [for the dress] was that [it would be] something magical, but magical in a way that was unexpected, kind of like me," Tallulah told Vogue. "I've worked very hard to be comfortable in my own skin, to be in something that there's a strength in is profound for me."
The media personality added, "I've worked so hard in my life to be able to find that beauty every day... this is definitely a very special peak celebration moment of beauty."
Tallulah's older sisters, Rumer and Scout, served as her bridesmaids and wore custom Balenciaga silk-chiffon draped gowns in light blue hues. Her mother, actress Demi Moore, was also in attendance and donned a strapless teal dress for the occasion.
Following the outdoor ceremony, the bride, groom, and their guests participated in a cocktail hour and a relaxing outdoor reception. A tent was set up for later in the evening where loved ones and friends danced the night away. Tallulah also made a quick outfit change into a shorter white dress by designer Vivienne Westwood.
Family History and Health Journey
Willis and Moore share daughters Rumer, Scout, and Tallulah from their marriage, which lasted from 1987 through 2000. Willis later married Emma Heming in 2009, and the couple are parents to two daughters, Mabel, 14, and Evelyn, 12.
Willis retired from acting in 2022 after being diagnosed with aphasia, a condition affecting communication abilities. The following year in 2023, his family announced that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia, known as FTD.
In August of last year, it was revealed that the Pulp Fiction actor moved into a separate home just down the street from his primary residence with Heming, where he receives 24/7 care tailored to his medical needs.
During an appearance on the Conversations With Cam podcast in January, Heming shared that she visits her husband "all the time." She and their children have dinner with Willis several times a week, and Heming often joins him for breakfast.
"We are over there all the time. It is our second home, and it's a place where we make memories," Heming explained on the podcast. "And that house supports Bruce's every need, 24/7 and our other home, where our kids are, now they're supported, now their needs are met and that's worked so well for us."
Heming has also spoken openly about the emotional impact of caring for a spouse with cognitive decline. During an episode of The Bossticks podcast in June, she admitted that she is "consistently in grief" amid her husband's ongoing dementia battle.
Tallulah's Reflections on Her Father
Tallulah has also written candidly about her father's diagnosis and the evolving dynamic within their family. In a 2023 essay written for Vogue, she reflected on navigating her feelings regarding his illness.
"I keep flipping between the present and the past when I talk about Bruce: he is, he was, he is, he was," Tallulah wrote. "That's because I have hopes for my father that I'm so reluctant to let go of."
She continued, "I've always recognized elements of his personality in me, and I just know that we'd be such good friends if only there were more time."
Tallulah added that she embraces the qualities she shares with her famous father. "He was cool and charming and slick and stylish and sweet and a little wacky - and I embrace all that," she wrote. "Those are the genes I inherited from him."
