Skin Cycling, Layering, Skinimalism… these are the beauty trends for this fall

Every once in a while, a new skincare trend pops up that’s echoed by “everything TikTok” (and much of Instagram). Lately, it’s the one known as ‘Skin Cycling’, the routine in 4 days and three cosmetics of Dr. Whitney Bove, who has summoned a barrage of publications. What can we save from these movements in social networks? What are these beauty trends really and which ones will break out this fall? The experts of iMstant Cosmeceutics, the Spanish company that makes (truly) personalized cosmetics thanks to a virtual diagnosis, talk about it. Take note!

SkinCycling: The ‘hit’ of the moment. Skin Cycling was born under the tutelage of dermatologist Whitney Bove, who has been successfully guiding her specific routine for her patients for years. This facial care strategy consists of rotating three cosmetics, an enzymatic exfoliant, a retinoid and a moisturizer, for 4 days to ‘retinize’ the tissue (the process by which the skin gradually gets used to retinol). Rubén Hernández, CEO of iMstant Cosmeceutics and President of the Spanish Association of Cosmetologists and Cosmiaters (AESCOM), explains: “There are several things that catch my attention. First of all, retinol is prescribed to everyone, without considering the needs of each skin. Second, retinol has its own retinization process and is designed to provide maximum benefits with daily use; the goal of retinization is precisely to be able to use retinoids as many nights as possible. Finally, Dr. In addition, do not mix active ingredients, if there is no problem if they are encapsulated.

Layering: It is a ‘layered’ care technique that approaches skin care from the focus to the imperfections it presents in each area. For example, fat in the T-zone, melasma on the forehead, dryness of the cheekbones, wrinkles in the nose-lip fold and on the forehead, acne on the chin… , no fewer than five different products and a long application routine. “It’s a strategy imported from Korea, where routines consist of many products. Treating the skin in an integral way makes a lot of sense, but the fact that this requires so many resources (financial and time) is not sustainable in the long term,” reveals the CEO of iMstant Rubén Hernández.

‘Skinimalism’: After this ‘bacchanal’, which entails layering, comes peace. Skinimalism is committed to conveying ‘less is more’ to the skin, using only essential products to keep it healthy and beautiful. These are: a cleanser, a day cream and a sunscreen. “It is without a doubt the trend that seduces us the most due to our scientific and totally personalized approach. If you provide the skin with the active ingredients it needs, you don’t need to add a serum or essence (unless you want to): a single product, custom designed for you, can completely transform your skin”, concludes Rubén Hernández .
