Beauty game “Never”: how Olympic champion Victoria Sinitsina epilated her hands with a razor and used a bronzer

We’re sure you’ve played the “never played” game many times, so you know the rules very well. These are simple: each participant in the continuation of the statement talks about the action he did on the contrary. For example, “I’ve never wrapped myself in cling film to lose weight.” Participants who also do this (depending on the party) bend their fingers or drink. In the new PEOPLE TALK episode, we added the prefix “beauty” to the game and asked the stars what “shameful” things they did with their looks or bodies. And so that no one repeats the mistakes of youth, experts will answer why everything does not go according to plan.

Today Olympic champion Victoria Sinitsina will tell about her failures in beauty. Let’s go!

I never…

… he epilated his hands with a razor

It always seemed to me that the vegetation on the hands of girls is not aesthetic. And while my hair wasn’t particularly dark and thick, my hair was still causing discomfort. Laser and waxing were not that popular back then, and the solution to this problem was found for me in an ordinary razor. Fast, cheap, efficient – why not? But I didn’t think I would have to suffer the consequences later on. Almost a day later, new hair started growing on my arms, and they were thicker and longer than before. Your hands were a real horror for my sensitive skin. Finally, I went to the laser hair removal course and said goodbye to the razor.

I had the same problem as a teenager. Hair grew even faster after shaving, and waxing would lead to ingrown hairs and stains after waxing. People with sensitive skin, such as Victoria, have a particularly difficult time with all “attractive” types of hair removal. Therefore, laser hair removal in this case is a real salvation. For example, diode laser hair removal is carried out using a gel that creates an additional protective barrier and moisturizes the skin. Currently, diode laser hair removal is the gentlest option of all possible types for people with sensitive skin.

I never…

… I removed the gel polish with my own hands

The quarantine beauty routine has not been easy for me. If I have already made masks and peelings at home, then hair coloring and manicure are done only by masters. It so happened that I had a busy schedule and all the beauty salons in Moscow were suddenly closed. I did not have time to go to the manicurist to remove the gel polish. I decided that I would not be the first and not the last to have to do this with my own hands. I ordered myself a set to take out and got to work. To say that my nails are suffering from this is an understatement. The nail plate looked so thin and unhealthy that it was painful to look at. Old nails only returned to me after a month and a half of treatment.

Removing gel polish on your own is one of the main and big mistakes. From such manipulations, the nail plate becomes thinner and weaker. Generally, gel polish removal is left to a professional, but you can do the removal at home if you have a special liquid, cotton pad, foil, file, grinder, and orange stick on hand.

The withdrawal procedure consists of several steps.

– Remove the shine from the coating – lightly sand the top layer with a file (try not to touch the skin and do not cut the coating on the nail plate).

– Apply the cream to the entire skin area around the nail to prevent the skin around the nail from burning and drying with the liquid.

– Moisten cotton pads (it is better to cut them into pieces according to the size of the nail) with liquid, put on the nails and wrap tightly with foil.

– Wait 10 minutes, then try to open it with one finger and gently swipe the overlay with an orange stick. Never use metal tools (such as pushers) as you may damage the nail matrix or your natural nail plate. If not, keep holding it in the foil until the coating is defeated. The total time should not exceed 15 minutes. The fact is that when the liquid evaporates to remove the gel polish, the reverse of the polymerization process of the coating is possible.

– After removing the gel polish, sand your nails with a soft file. And after removing the coating, be sure to remove the maximum length so that the thinned nails do not break.

I never…

…used bronzer

I like it when my skin is slightly tanned. I thought the easiest and quickest way to make the skin look less pale was to apply a self tanner to the body. But every attempt was a failure for me. I tried many ways: from the most popular and expensive to the most affordable, but the result was the same. Almost always, it was tan-stained, pressed on the bed sheets, and peeled off after the first scrub. Once and for sure, I decided to sunbathe in the solarium or under the sun with a good spf product on my skin. First, this is how I deprive myself of an unnecessary cause of stress. Secondly, the tan obtained in the sun or in the solarium lasts for a long time.

In general, self-tanning is much more beneficial than the real one. It has been proven that solar radiation not only causes premature photo- and chrono-aging (hyperpigmentation, loss of turgor and skin tone, wrinkles), but also increases the risk of melanoma. Solariums are the main reason for the increase in the incidence of melanoma among young women. Therefore, if you really want to look darker visually, self-tanning is a good alternative for health.

The effect of self-tanners is based on staining the upper layer of the skin with a dye in the composition of the product. The top layer of the epidermis is dead cells waiting to be exfoliated. Our skin is constantly renewed, the life cycle of the epidermal cell, that is, the transition from the deepest layer to the upper horny layer and exfoliation is an average of 28 days. All cells go through this cycle asynchronously, so our skin can have quite uneven relief. Moreover, this may not be visible to the eye, but becomes more noticeable when painting the upper layer of the skin with self-tanning. This staining can be reduced by using a scrub, light exfoliation, or exfoliating glove before applying a self-tanner.
