Stella McCartney launches an ethical and vegan skin care brand that will delight fans of clean beauty

The vegan stylist will launch Stella McCartney Beauty: a cleanser, serum and cream, as well as their refills, will be available in early September 2022, formulated and packaged with LVMH to be as respectful as possible of humans, wildlife and of nature .flora.

For sixteen years, Stella McCartney has established herself as a pioneer of vegan and ethical fashion. So, that today she announces that she is launching into beauty seems as logical as it is exciting in terms of innovation in formulas and even in packaging. Although the biggest fans will remember Care, a range of organic skincare products that she launched with Yves Saint Laurent Beauté in 2006 before falling asleep quickly.

Stella McCartney launches her own vegan and clean beauty brand

In accordance with her ecological commitments, the designer then returns to see things small and good, rather than big. Stella McCartney starts from the basics and, more than a wave of superfluous products, releases three products: a cleanser, a serum and a cream, reports the WWD to which Stella McCartney confided:

“I’m not that person who wants to buy a million products for different areas of my face. I don’t want any of that in my life.”

Then we would ask her why launch a brand given the plethoric offer that already exists, but she replies between the lines:

“I want less and I want it to work. I want it to be honest and integrate the way I think and live life. Obviously I wanted to do the cleanest skin care we could do in luxury, the purest of the purest. “

The least polluting ingredients, packaging and delivery methods possible

In fact, the fashion and beauty designer now worked with minority shareholders within her brand, LVMH, to develop a cosmetics line for three years. So much so that a branch dedicated to green and clean beauty it was even opened inside the French giant of international luxury, Luxury Beauty.

The Stella McCartney Beauty brand will emerge, certified cruelty free and vegan, of course. As also reported by WWDthe cosmetic ingredients come from northern Europe, made from recycled food waste (for example, squalene is a by-product of the olive oil industry).

Ingredients are prohibited whose production or extraction was deemed too polluting from the brand. As for the packaging, it also comes from recycled elements (recycled wood waste and recycled glass) and can be recycled, when it is not refillable. The delivery process has also been designed to pollute as little as possible since then the products will travel by ship rather than by plane. And 1% of the profits will go to the NGO Wetlands Internationals (to finance the conservation of peatlands: the mosses which represent the largest carbon deposit in the world).

Will Stella McCartney Beauty be emulated within LVMH and among competitors?

Very nice promises and policies, sure, but they still count 105 dollars for the cream (and therefore the equivalent in euros, since 1 $ = 1 € at the moment …), 85 dollars for its top-up, 60 dollars for the cleanser, $ 45 for its refill, $ 140 for the serum and $ 110 for its refill. The products will be made available from the beginning of September 2022 on stellamccartneybeauty.com.

While most of the general public will certainly not have the means to purchase Stella McCartney Beauty, it remains encouraging to predict that the development of this brand will certainly be emulated within the LVMH group (which owns Dior, Louis Vuitton, Fendi or even Sephora). , and even beyond. Enough to inspire the beauty market to be more and more eco-responsible!
