For us, makeup is not just a familiar beauty routine, but also an opportunity to look at ourselves in a different way, try new images and, finally, emphasize our uniqueness.
We present to you our columnist Olga Romanova! Olga is a famous makeup artist and creator of the Romanovamakeup cosmetics brand. Last time she talked about how to create a basic makeup bag. Today, on the contrary, she will share beauty products that we can do without.

It’s clear that the makeup market today is a bit oversaturated. And the launch of some products, in my subjective opinion, is nothing more than a marketing tactic.
Yes, of course, demand creates supply. However, considering that a large number of trends are set by tiktokers, whose main goal is to shock and attract attention, many tools for their implementation are not so necessary in everyday life. Looks like you can definitely do without these three!
Liner
I’m not a fan of complicated, multi-step primers. In my opinion, the money intended for their purchase is better spent on quality home care or visiting a beautician. But although they are definitely not essential products, they occupy a huge niche. And in general, their needs are greatly exaggerated. If there are people who like to apply two or three primers in a row and “polish” everything with foundation, I am definitely not one of them. Because as a result of such manipulations, the skin resembles Napoleon cake. It is better to first apply a serum that will solve your specific problem. I am confident that on healthy, well-moisturized skin, makeup will naturally adhere perfectly. In addition, many foundations contain ingredients that already perform the functions of a primer: evens, nourishes and prolongs durability.
color correctors

I believe these are only useful if your goal is to create theatrical or cinematic makeup. After all, modern makeup is about natural beauty. But to look natural and fresh, having previously made a strict color correction, is quite problematic. Imagine: first we apply green to eliminate redness, then we try to get rid of the greenish tint… As a result, our skin looks like a sandwich. And this makes absolutely no sense, because modern concealers with improved textures and formulas cope with redness and dark circles without the need for multi-layer application.
Large eyeshadow palettes
I won’t argue: they look very impressive! I know many people are instantly captivated and make an emotional purchase when they see the beautiful packaging and color variety. However, let’s not forget that we usually use only two color tones in daily life. Of course, it can be a great tool if you like to experiment with makeup and constantly create different looks. However, as practice shows, it is really useful only for professional makeup artists who vitally need a wide range of shades for different skin tones, moods or occasions.
