How to do makeup on problem skin? Makeup artist explains

You don’t want to reapply a bold tone or blush when skin has inflammation or acne. Some are afraid of even more flaws, others are not fully confident in their skills. In fact, it is possible to apply makeup for problematic skin. The main thing is to follow some advice that Sabina Shodmonova, makeup artist and stylist at Fen Dry Bar, shared with us.

Stage I: preparation

For those with problem skin, it is very important to carry out proper care before applying decorative cosmetics.

Tone your skin. After gently cleansing, apply toner, mist or thermal water to restore the pH level after washing with water.

Don’t forget to moisturize. Problematic skin is often dehydrated, so it needs to be well moisturized. Apply the serum and then apply a mild mattifying face cream. It is better to give preference to light tissues based on hyaluronic water or air foam.

Don’t forget the most sensitive areas. It’s not just the skin on your face that needs extra attention. You need to moisturize both your eye area and your lips.

Keep your tools clean. Brushes and sponges should first be disinfected with special wipes or cleaned under warm water with shampoo or soap. This is especially true of the brushes we use to apply liquid textures.

Stage II: Creating Tone

First you need to choose a tone based on the effect you want to see as a result: matte or glossy. The first is best used for evening make-up, and the second for every day. Despite problem skin, there are no restrictions on foundation, all you need is a competent approach and reasonable use of products. My advice is to use creamy textures. They look more flexible and natural, so I prefer them when correcting a face with problem skin.

Once the product is selected, you can move on to the tone.

—Apply a thin layer of mattifying cream or gel to the T-zone to prevent unwanted shine.

— If there are local red areas after acne, apply green corrector or medium density concealer. Mix the product gently.

— Apply the tone with a brush and then go over it thoroughly with a wrung out damp sponge to collect excess product from the skin. The sponge will give a slight blurring effect.

— Set your complexion and blush correction with translucent powder. Using a powder puff, apply to the T-zone, under the eyes, nose and nasolabial fold, and chin. Then apply it to your cheeks and neck using a soft brush.

Stage III: Eye Makeup

Choose eye makeup depending on tonal intensity. To a matte and long-lasting look, it is better to add brighter highlights – smoky eyes, cat eyes, brown haze, Hollywood winged eyeliner and red lips. For radiant skin, monochromatic combinations are suitable – bronze, golden, peach and berry shades, sophisticated arrows, colored eyelashes. You can add a light highlighter to create a summer face effect. The result is long-lasting makeup that hides imperfections and is still suitable for any occasion.
