Fortunately, there are now different ways that allow you to forget about mascara for a month or more.
The most popular among beauty procedures are lamination and extension. The first is suitable for the most natural effect, and the second is suitable for those who need an expressive look. We decided to test both procedures and talk about their differences and effects.

How is it done?
Lamination is a procedure in which the eyelashes look as if you curled them with a curler, in which case they are somehow magically fixed for 1-1.5 months. The procedure is carried out in several stages.
– The master first fixes the lashes on a special roller and creates the desired curl. The rollers are available in different sizes from S to L. The first is suitable for creating a strong curl and is most often used for short eyelashes. Size M is for medium length lashes with natural curls. And L – for long eyelashes and a soft curl.
– Then a special chemical composition is applied to the eyelashes, which helps to soften them.
– Then comes a composition that fixes the curl of the eyelashes created by the master. It is usually applied not the entire length of the hair, but starting from the middle so as not to damage the roots. The composition is kept for about 5-8 minutes, depending on the individual condition of the eyelashes.
– Then the eyelashes are painted in the desired tone and a care composition is applied on them.

How long does the effect last?
The effect after lash lamination usually lasts for 1-1.5 months. Its duration depends on how quickly the feathers are updated. Gradually the lashes fall and the curve becomes less pronounced, but still looks natural.
My name is Katya, I am a beauty editor, I have never done anything with my lashes and this is my candid confession. In fact, I have always been happy with their look with and without mascara, so I did not need extensions or laminations. I will say more, such procedures scared me a little – I am not a fan of all things eye exposure (although I wear lenses regularly). Looking ahead, I will say: two weeks after lamination, I am ready to do this regularly, because it turned out to be incredibly comfortable and beautiful.
First, I almost forgot about the mascara. To be honest, I’m usually too lazy to paint my eyes just because they need to be washed in the evening. And it doesn’t matter if it takes exactly one minute. After lamination, my lashes started to look thicker and twice as long. Therefore, they are now noticeable even without mascara. And if I decide to color them, they literally look like they’re upside down.
Secondly, the procedure was not scary at all. It passed quickly and painlessly. It only took 40 minutes for the Slow Mo salon master. Since I had no experience with eyelash lamination before that, he commented on each step in detail, talked about the compositions and application technology. So I was much calmer. Finally, instructions were given on the do’s and don’ts: don’t go to the sauna and pool for 48 hours, and don’t wet your eyelashes for 12 hours. All the rules are perfectly fulfilled, so I plan not to think about mascara for at least another month.

Extensions have one big plus – there are so many types that you can get lost at first, and then choose absolutely any. You can choose the volume, effect and color. Based on this, the master will choose the technique for performing the procedure. For example, to create 1D volume, an additional lash is made on top of a natural lash. And for 2D – two etc.

How long does the effect last?
Eyelash extension takes about a month, depending on the renewal rate. Over time, additional hairs begin to fall out, but this happens gradually, so it is not noticeable. As a rule, a correction is required after three to four weeks.
My previous experience with eyelash extensions was not very good. I came to the master a few years ago (I honestly admit that I understand nothing about volume, curl and other extension details) and wanted to give a natural effect and give my lashes a little more volume. Two hours later, I saw two fat black caterpillars before my eyes.
In the Keep Looking room, I decided to turn off gestalt and give extensions a second chance. I warned the master in advance about all fears. I was offered to do the “First Meet” complex – great for those who want to try the procedure for the first time or, like me, have a natural effect. Since I don’t wear much makeup in my daily life, I didn’t want my eyelashes to stand out too much on my face, so I decided to use brown tufts instead of the usual black ones. After that, the master guided me in volume and twist. To give my eyes an “open look” effect, we made a classic with a medium curve, denoted by the letter C. The length remained from 6 to 11 mm.
The whole procedure took about an hour. During this time, I managed to ask the master about all the nuances of eyelash extensions and take a closer look at them. So now I do not lie with my face in the pillow and try not to watch melodramas so as not to cry (otherwise the glue on the eyelashes will get stuck).
I like the result. And I especially like that no one notices that the eyelashes are getting longer. In my case, naturalness is the best compliment.
The first thing I want to start with is speed. The master in the Moskvichka salon set a record for the duration of eyelash extensions – the procedure took 60 minutes. And for those who are always in a rush like me, that’s the best it can be. The second thing I liked was the sensitivity of the master. I shared my desires, but before that, very few people listened to them. I’ve always done 2D audio, C curve and black tint but now I’ve decided to try 1.5D. It turned out just the way I wanted it – natural, smooth and as inconspicuous as possible.
And finally, the durability of the impact. More than two weeks have passed since the procedure and all the lashes are in place. There are no gaps, the feathers practically do not fall out, and nothing interferes – in general, everything is as promised by the master.
Summarizing our experience, we can draw several conclusions.
– Lamination is a suitable process for those who like the look of their eyelashes after curling them with a curler. They will look like this for 1-1.5 months.
– Eyelash extension is a procedure for those who want to draw all the attention to their eyes. Dark brown buns are for those who want a more natural result. With them, eyelashes naturally look thick and voluminous. And black rays are suitable for a wow effect.
