Ron noted that she intended to create a more adult story with elements of suspense. She shared her love for forbidden romance narratives and said she wanted to offer something different to her audience because her readers were growing up alongside her.
Ron is an Argentine author who gained international recognition for her fiction. Her previous work includes the Culpados trilogy, which began with Minha Culpa and established her standing in contemporary romantic fiction before being adapted for streaming platforms.
Nostalgic Vibes of Nineties Romances
Lead actress Ester Expósito highlighted the film's artistic ties to classic romance cinema. Speaking in an interview with CNN Brasil, Expósito said the production strongly recalls the 1992 film The Bodyguard, starring Kevin Costner and Whitney Houston.
Expósito noted that the 1992 classic immortalized the song I Will Always Love You. She explained that Atraídos pelo Destino conveys an elegant 1990s romantic vibe alongside a parallel between thriller elements and romance.
Expósito is a Spanish actress who gained international fame for her role in the hit television drama series Elite. The Bodyguard, released in 1992, remains one of the most famous romantic thrillers in modern cinema, combining high-stakes personal protection with central romantic tension.
Filming Across New York and Spain
Co-star Hugo Diego García pointed out how the film's visual setting enhances its nostalgic atmosphere. Speaking to CNN Brasil, García said that setting the story in New York helps evoke the style of classic films from previous decades.
García highlighted that scenes filmed in Spain and dialogue spoken in Spanish introduce a unique element of originality to the plot. He described the combination of American and Spanish locations as an interesting contrast that is rarely seen, adding that it may be one of the few Spanish movies shot in the United States.

When asked about the central dynamic between Marfil and Sebastian, García told CNN Brasil that the contrast in their realities and personalities brings the two protagonists together. He said both characters find in each other something they lack and need, making them feel more complete.
García explained that the leads complement one another and admire parts of each other, whether consciously or not. He noted that Sebastian is not consciously fascinated at first by Marfil's lifestyle, but ultimately learns to be freer, live in the moment, and realize that work might not be everything.
For Marfil, García stated that the experience is the exact opposite. Through her relationship with Sebastian, she comes to understand that structure and personal discipline can bring greater freedom into her life.
