The Amazon Echo Dot Max smart speaker earned an 88 out of 100 score following hands-on testing by technology journalists at Spanish newspaper La Razón.
The compact voice-controlled device carries an official retail price of 109.99 euros, though recent promotional offers have reduced the speaker to 101 euros on Amazon.

The evaluation was conducted by product journalist Beatriz Alcántara, who holds degrees in journalism and audiovisual communication from Rey Juan Carlos University in Madrid and specializes in consumer technology.
Hardware design and physical dimensions
Alcántara reported that the Echo Dot Max retains the traditional spherical format characteristic of Amazon Echo hardware, featuring a simple fabric mesh exterior.
The device measures 108.7 millimeters by 108.6 millimeters by 99.2 millimeters, giving it a compact footprint suitable for placement on tables, countertops, or nightstands.
Buyers can select from three color options: graphite, amethyst, and white. A signature blue light ring surrounds the button sphere and illuminates toward the direction of the user's voice when spoken to.

Audio performance and driver specifications
Despite its small physical footprint, testing revealed that the Echo Dot Max delivered the highest sound quality of any Echo speaker in its size class.
Internal audio components include a 2.5-inch woofer and a 0.8-inch tweeter. The testing team noted that the hardware achieves powerful bass without audio distortion while keeping vocals clear.
Users can stream music directly from a smartphone using a Bluetooth connection. Alternatively, users can ask the voice assistant to stream tracks directly from services such as Spotify or Amazon Music.
Alexa voice control and smart home features
The speaker relies on Amazon's Alexa assistant to carry out routine household tasks. Users can request news updates, check city weather reports, manage shopping lists, set cooking timers, and configure reminders such as plant watering schedules.
For entertainment, the device can recite riddles or host interactive games of the television trivia show Pasapalabra. It also functions as a home controller to operate connected devices, including turning on living room televisions or switching off bedroom lighting.
Purchases of the Echo Dot Max include a free trial of Alexa+, an upgraded software version designed to handle complex tasks and support more natural voice interaction.
Pricing and retailer availability
While Amazon lists the device at 101 euros during current promotional periods, major European electronics retailers MediaMarkt and PcComponentes also offer the Echo Dot Max for around 100 euros.
The ten-euro discount from the standard 109.99 euro list price provides savings on a hardware model that typically remains at its original retail price.
