Amal Clooney made a stylish arrival in Athens for a series of cultural and heritage events, stepping out in an ivory three-piece trouser suit for an artificial intelligence talk with her mother, Baria Alamuddin, at the Temple of Olympian Zeus on Thursday. The outing came straight after the human rights lawyer, 48, accompanied her husband, actor George Clooney, to the Venice Film Festival in Italy.
Fresh from her appearances at the film festival, Amal wore her long brunette hair in a bouncy blow out and finished the look with oversized square shades and gold jewellery.
She walked beside her mother, who wore a black and white polka dot co-ord paired with a quilted Chanel bag and her own pair of shades. Before travelling to Greece, Amal had been spotted leaving Italy with George after the pair attended the 83rd edition of the film festival.
George Clooney's Venice legacy
George has become a familiar face at the Venice Film Festival in the nearly 30 years since he first attended with the 1998 film Out Of Sight. The festival has hosted several major moments in his life, including his wedding at the Aman Venice and the premiere of Good Night, And Good Luck, which brought him his first Oscar nomination for best director.
This year marked another milestone for the actor, who received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement. During his acceptance speech, George paid tribute to his wife, calling her a "bada*s" and praising her legal career.
Amal, a British-Lebanese lawyer, has represented Yazidi survivors of ISIS atrocities in Iraq and Syria and helped secure legal victories holding ISIS members accountable for genocide. "By the way, my wife's the only person to have ever put ISIS on trial and won," George said. "She's a bada*s, and she gets the job done. We do it for our families. We do it for our friends."
He went on to reference the criticism the couple has faced over Amal's work, including after he wrote an op-ed about President Joe Biden. "Amal's taken some very difficult stands over the years, and we've had to face some pretty heavy criticism based on that," he said. "I wrote an op-ed about President Joe Biden. I got some s***. We have really interesting conversations around the table. But you know, we also have two nine-year-old kids, and we have a normal family life, and there's a lot of laughing and a lot of love, and we're very lucky, and we're really aware of that."
Furies premiere and Stella McCartney dress
On Friday night, George attended the premiere of Furies, a Lebanese heist thriller on which he serves as executive producer, and could not resist getting behind the camera himself on the red carpet. Early reviews from critics at the festival have praised the film, calling it riveting and high-action.
Dressed in a navy suit with a partially unbuttoned shirt, George appeared in high spirits as he posed with the rest of the cast and took photos with a large camera on the red carpet.
Earlier in the day, Amal had stepped out in another striking look, wearing a 1,190-pound mesh Stella McCartney dress as she held hands with George. Stepping off a water taxi amid the two-week festival, she accessorised with nude Aquazzura heels and large dark shades.
