Alina Lanina, star of the series SashaTanya, said in an interview with Lady Mail that despite her heavy workload in theater, she deeply misses working in film.
Lanina said that after graduating from institute she went straight into film work and did not work in theater for twelve years, during which she missed the stage greatly. Now, she said, the irony is that with as many as 35 performances a month, she hungrily longs for film work.
Theater as training ground
Lanina said she still believes the stage is the best training for an actor, since it lets a performer better understand themselves and the limits of their talent, while film sets demand showing finished skills with no room to experiment.
On her private life
In the same interview, Lanina explained why she avoids showing the public the father of her children, her partner of 15 years. She said it is not deliberate, she simply is not drawn to excessive publicity, adding that her partner is not an oligarch, is not married, and has nothing about him that would make headline news.
