Concerns over the relationship first surfaced in September when Kafelnikova revealed on her Telegram channel that she had erased her husband's phone number. She added that she took a screenshot of the contact details to ensure she would not break her resolve to stop contacting him.

In addition to the court filings, official records listed further outstanding financial liabilities against the entrepreneur amounting to six million rubles and nine million rubles.
