Canadian actor Scott Hylands, known for his roles in Supernatural and The X-Files, has died at the age of 83. His son, cinematographer Luke Hylands, told the Mirror of his death, calling his father his forever hero and best friend.
Hylands began his career in theatre before making his screen debut in 1969 in the film Then Came Bronson. He went on to appear in films including Operation Snafu, Fools, The Deadly Tide and Earthquake, as well as television series including Wonder Woman, Police Story and The Waltons.
Breakout role and later work
Hylands became widely known for his lead role as a detective in the police drama Night Heat. Later in his career he appeared in Titanic, The X-Files, Stargate SG-1 and Supernatural. One of his last roles was as the stepfather of agent Gloria Burgle in the third season of Fargo.
