Actor Chad Lowe's 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, has died at home.
Her family confirmed the death to Page Six, revealing that the 58-year-old actor lost his teenage daughter on Tuesday.
In a statement, the family directed anyone struggling with mental health to reach out to the suicide prevention helpline.
"We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona," the family said. "She was a loving young girl who was smart, creative and loved to dance. She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents. In fact, she was the light of our lives."
"Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time," the statement continued. "If you or someone you know is struggling with mental health, please reach out to the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline by calling or texting 988."
Law enforcement sources told TMZ that authorities were called to the Los Angeles house at 12:10am.
Lowe shares Fiona with his wife, 52-year-old producer Kim Painter. The couple welcomed their first daughter Mabel in 2009. Mabel was followed by Fiona, who was born in November 2012, and their third daughter Nixie, born in 2016. Mabel is now 17 and Nixie is 10.
School email to parents
Parents at Fiona's school reportedly received an email from the principal on Tuesday to let them know a student had died, according to Page Six.
The email did not specify the student's name, but contained condolences for the family. It advised that "counselors are available to meet with students and staff who may need emotional support during this difficult time."
The Daily Mail reached out to Lowe's representatives for comment.
Tributes and family photos
Lowe last paid tribute to Fiona on his Instagram account in November 2025 to mark her birthday, sharing a photo of her wearing cowboy boots.
"Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!!" Lowe wrote. "Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
In August 2024, Lowe spoke about being a father to three girls on the Still Here Hollywood podcast, stating that having daughters is "an incredible privilege."
"It takes what I've known intellectually about women and all of equality and the glass ceiling that's there, and how it's a misogynistic world in a lot of ways... And it's put it in my heart, because I have three daughters," he said. "And so I look at the world, really, from their perspective."
The actor previously shared sweet snaps on Instagram of taking his daughters to a Taylor Swift concert in 2023.
"It’s official, I’m a certified Swiftie Dad! I totally get it now! What an awesome night!" he wrote.
In October 2024, he shared a family photo with his wife and three girls in a corn maze, writing, "Lost in the maze! Our favorite time of year!"
Loss of family home
In February 2025, Lowe shared a photo of Mabel, Fiona and Nixie visiting the ruins of their childhood home in Los Angeles after the devastating Palisades fire. The girls stood with their arms around each other looking at the wreckage.
"Almost a month after we evacuated our girls finally got to go back to see what's left of their home," Lowe wrote in the caption. "The way they’ve handled this whole devastating experience is nothing short of remarkable. I am in awe of their spirit and resilience. Helping them navigate these tough times is my sole purpose. Being their dad is my life’s greatest joy and privilege."
In January, the actor wrote about the despair he felt after losing the home.
"One year ago today, our lives got turned upside down by a completely preventable catastrophe," he wrote on Instagram. "It's hard not to let the anger, despair, and frustration overwhelm. Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day."
He continued: "However, this terrible experience has been a powerful reminder of this simple truth: we can't always control what happens to us in this life but we can control how we respond. And I have been so incredibly proud of how my wife Kim and our daughters have strived to make the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance. I am in awe of their resilience."
Lowe added that the family was buoyed by support from other people.
"Also, we are buoyed by the outpouring of support, assistance, and well wishes from so many people in our lives," he wrote. "The way people have responded has given us great comfort, hope and strength to rebuild our lives. Thank you one and all!"
"We will continue to honor those who lost their lives in these fires, and to attempt to lift up all of our neighbors whose grief we share," he concluded.
Career and background
Lowe won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his supporting role on the comedy drama series Life Goes On, where he starred as a man living with HIV. In a still from the series, he was seen with co-star Kellie Martin. His acting credits also include Melrose Place, ER, 24, Pretty Little Liars and Now and Again.
He has been married to Painter since 2010. He was previously married to 52-year-old Oscar-winning actress Hilary Swank from 1997 to 2007.
He is the younger brother of 62-year-old actor Rob Lowe, a Brat Pack member and star of Parks and Recreation.
