Yvette Fielding, the co-creator and presenter of Most Haunted, has cut the asking price of her haunted Cheshire mansion by more than £300,000 after struggling to find a buyer.
Fielding, 57, and her husband, TV director Karl Beattie, put the 16th century Tudor house on the market for £1.35 million last year. The price has now dropped to £1 million.
Fielding, who was the youngest ever presenter of Blue Peter when she joined the BBC children's programme in 1987 at the age of 18, has previously said the house is haunted. "Oh yes, the house is haunted," she said, describing visits from the spirit of a Cavalier named Charles Deacon, who she said was murdered by the Roundheads during the English Civil War, as well as two children called Master Benjamin and Elizabeth.
A property expert said: "Not everyone wants to live in a haunted house."
The former I'm a Celebrity star has told how a dining table flew across the room and how she once found kitchen chairs stacked on a table in a pyramid. She has also performed seances in a garden shed.
Fielding says the Grade II-listed house is no longer haunted after she gave it a blessing.
The five-bedroom, 3,836 sq ft property was formerly a gentleman's hunting lodge and includes a minstrel gallery, a ground floor snug, a workshop, a third-floor office and a summerhouse. The 15-acre estate has a private lake, woodland, stables, a paddock and a riding arena.
Fielding is planning to move to the West Country after falling in love with Devon, where she previously owned a holiday cottage.
Dance is on the menu for Nadiya
Nadiya Bychkova, 36, has been replaced on Strictly Come Dancing by fellow Ukrainian dancer Aleksandra Isaeva, 22, after being axed in a mass cull of professional dancers. But Bychkova is determined to "keep dancing."
She was seen dancing in a pale blue dress at Club 55 in St Tropez over the weekend, alongside the restaurant's house band, ToTem. Sharing a video online, Bychkova said: "Point of view, you said you'd have a quiet lunch at Club, then the band showed up."
Ken Bruce backs PopMaster's future
The BBC has axed Celebrity Mastermind and Blankety Blank, but former Radio 2 DJ Ken Bruce believes PopMaster, which has moved from radio to Channel 4, will continue to appeal to smarter viewers.
"We've always in this country liked a quiz and I think we don't like quizzes that are insultingly easy," Bruce said. "Only Connect is a big success, and that is really quite fiendish at times. PopMaster, I hope, will carry on being on the higher end of the quality of quizzes."
Party comes first for Burnham's spin doctor
Grace Pritchard, Andy Burnham's new spin doctor, has caught the eye of Westminster insiders.
William Cash, editor of The Mace, said: "I like that she has no qualms about using a glamorous photo of herself in a party dress, holding a champagne flute, on her X profile." Pritchard describes herself on the social media site as a "Yorkshire lass."
Cash added: "I am not suggesting in any way that Burnham's new political spokes-person.. may be any sort of party girl."
Havers not won over by young Poirot prequel
As the BBC prepares to explore the sexuality of Agatha Christie's detective Hercule Poirot in a forthcoming six-part drama titled Hercule, actor Nigel Havers has said he is unimpressed with prequels.
"I sometimes wish we could think of something new," said Havers, 74, star of The Charmer and a self-described "huge fan" of Christie's Poirot books. "They're inventing this. She didn't write about young Poirot. They [industry executives] think, 'What's really popular? We've done all the stories, let's go back in time'."
Philip's boat wins at Cowes
Bluebottle, the boat given to Prince Philip and Queen Elizabeth as a wedding gift by the Island Sailing Club on the Isle of Wight, was triumphant at the Cowes regatta.
The traditional wooden vessel was restored to full race condition by Cowes boat-builder David Heritage and won in the Dragon class under skipper Graham Bailey.
One person connected with the boat said: "Cowes is my favourite regatta. It requires skills above those needed in Olympic-style racing. It would be lovely if the current royals came aboard and had a go." Philip sailed the boat competitively for years and often took it out with a young Prince Charles.
Wham! documentary criticised over credit
The new documentary Wham! 10 Days In China has been enjoyed by fans of the 1980s pop duo, but it has left Katie Summers horrified.
Her late father, Jazz Summers, managed the band alongside Simon Napier-Bell, who she claims is taking too much credit in the film. "It was difficult to watch so much of the story told from Simon's perspective, hearing, 'I did this,' and 'I did that,' while my dad's contribution was entirely left out," she said.
"Aside from a co-producer credit, which obviously came from his idea to film the entire journey all those years ago, there was no acknowledgement of the role he played," she added.
