Russian actor Vasily Kopeikin will star in the new dramatic television series Marik, which premieres on the KION online cinema on September 4.
The eight episode first season of the drama will be released in two distinct installments on the subscription platform. The initial four episodes will launch on opening day, followed by the remaining four episodes a week later.
The season finale is scheduled to premiere on September 11, completing the inaugural run of the show.
Plot and lead character
The story follows pediatric doctor Mark Aksyonov as he returns home from serving at the front. After arriving back, Aksyonov discovers that his wife assumed he had died and subsequently married his best friend.
Facing the complete destruction of his former life, the doctor is forced to start over from the beginning. He accepts a position joining an emergency ambulance crew, dedicating himself to saving children while attempting to rebuild his personal affairs.
Kopeikin plays the lead role of Aksyonov, taking on the central character throughout all eight episodes of the narrative drama.
Streaming platform and cast context
Kopeikin previously earned recognition for his work in Ice 3, the third installment of the popular Russian romantic sports drama film franchise centered around figure skating and ice hockey.
The new series is being hosted exclusively on KION, a major Russian video streaming provider owned by digital service operator MTS. The platform launched in 2021 to deliver original fiction programming, feature films, and serialised television drama to domestic subscription audiences.
Medical dramas focusing on first responders and emergency personnel have long held a prominent place in serialised broadcasting. Shows combining high-pressure clinical scenarios with personal turmoil allow storytellers to explore human resilience against the backdrop of emergency care.
Subscribers to KION will be able to access the first four episodes of Marik when the series debuts on September 4, with the second half concluding the story on September 11.
