Your character’s name is Jean Bogossian. Any resemblance to a surname of Armenian origin would be entirely voluntary…
Patrick Fiori: But I wasn’t the one asking the authors! (Laughs) They asked me about my origins, Armenian, Corsican and many more to write me privately. So yes, if I embarked on this adventure, because Jean Bogossian is in my DNA!
And you find another actor-singer Michel Jonasz…
Who plays my father, yes. He was so cute on set, so much more than in the script! Jean is imprisoned for eight years for a murder she didn’t commit, but her father has distanced herself from him, being sure of his crime. After his release from prison, he decides to establish a training center for young criminals in their small village. Guide all these children to accompany and reintegrate them and prevent them from falling on the wrong side. These centers are located in France.
Your parents were foster parents when you were a child. Have you seen young people passing by in these sensitive situations?
We had no contact with them about this. But I sensed this sense of abandonment, of betrayal, and I understood the modesty of feelings. I could have been one of them ten times more. I went mostly to the “brothers” of the Air-Bel city of Marseille. I’ve done stupid things, but never “” crap.
Did you show this movie to your parents?
No, I can’t. Maybe it will make them live a little longer, I say to myself, if they wait until they see it on TV. But theirs is the most important phone call I can hope for the next day. And then I know that Jean Bogossian, this man with his outstretched hand, is finally my father.
You just went on tour with the album a family resemblance, has been recently republished with several previously unreleased items. Is the urge stronger than before?
We were finally able to leave! You know, the biggest star of all stars is the audience. You can’t make a meter without a motor.
There is also talk of a church tour project…
When I left school in Marseille as a kid, I stopped at the Armenian shop right next to the church of Saint-Michel to buy sweets, then I was sitting by the altar and singing. There I raised my voice with the echo. I never talk about it. While still on tour, I leave my hotel room and enter a church to sing. I do it because I love it. Yes, I will attack churches and cathedrals after this album tour from March.
You will host us in a recording studio for this interview. What ‘s going on here ?
(Laughs) Here we are, making the album Corsu Mezu Mezu, vol. 2. It is also the story of a hand stretching between island artists and artists from the mainland who will together interpret songs of Corsican heritage. And in Corsican!
