On another night american idol saw another contestant drop out of the competition. This is the second night in a row that a singing hopeful has left the ABC reality series, after Sara Beth Love chose to leave the show the night before.
Hollywood Week ended in shock when Kaya Stewart announced she was leaving the competition. She would duet Adam Lambert’s “Whataya Want From Me” with Fire. However, when the girls took the stage, Stewart told the judges that she was leaving her partner.
“I have a little announcement to make,” Stewart told judges Katy Perry, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. “I got sick at the beginning of Hollywood Week and I’m trying to push myself and keep going. I worked with Fire during this gig and it was a great experience.”
Stewart continued, “She’s so talented and so amazing and we had such a bond, but I realized I couldn’t give 100 percent. So I decided not to perform but Fire will perform and I’m very grateful to be here and thank you but I will not perform.
Perry asked Stewart if she was leaving the game, to which she replied “yes”. So if I don’t perform today, it means I’m no longer competitive.”
Stewart then started crying and told her to go. She left the stage, leaving Vuur broken and close to tears.
When Perry asked Fire how she was feeling, the contestant began to cry and said: “It was really stressful. It took a lot of stress for me to learn another arrangement and then just come here…”
The judges then asked the other contestants if anyone wanted a duet with Fire, and Jayna Elise volunteered to join her on stage.
Fire got emotional during the performance and the judges saw her struggle on stage, making her all cry during the performance.
“I’m proud of you,” Perry told Fire after wiping tears from her face. “You grow little by little. You can’t control much, but you can control yourself. And you are in control of your future. Thank you for standing here and keep trying, thank you for swinging, thank you for not losing, thank you for fighting.
Perry then dropped that Fire could advance to the next round.
