EXCLUSIVE: Portugal is the latest territory to host a local version of CBS. let’s make a deal

The show, which airs daily on local network TVI, is the latest expansion of territory for a format that has been shot in the arm since acquiring the underlying intellectual property from Marcus Lemonis and Nancy Glass’ fledgling Marcus/Glass Productions.

Fremantle Portugal will produce the Portuguese version and Pedro Texeira will be at the helm.

In let’s make a deal which has been broadcast for 50 years in the US and 14 years on CBS, select members of the studio audience do business with the host. Something of value is offered to these merchants and they are given the choice of keeping it or exchanging it for another item, with the other item being hidden from the merchant until that choice is made.

Can’t Stop Media has closed the deal with Portugal and Matthieu Porte, the distribution team’s international and development partner, said he will close many more local deals this year.

Deadline announced in late 2021 that Marcus/Glass Productions had acquired Hatos-Hall Productions’ game show catalog, including let’s make a deal and the show has since been sold to Germany, Hungary and Indonesia. Local versions are also being developed in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Poland, Greece, Argentina and Chile.
