US President Donald Trump said journalist Tucker Carlson has never liked him, speaking in an interview with radio station WABC.
Trump said he had done a great deal for Carlson in some ways, but suggested the broadcaster had probably never felt real warmth toward him. He said that chemistry between people sometimes exists and sometimes does not, and that when it is missing there is nothing that can be done about it.
Trump also said Carlson was an inconsistent person. He added that he was surprised Carlson was unhappy with the policies of the current US administration, including the military operation against Iran.
He said someone like Carlson should welcome what he was doing, since he had made America great again, a nod to the slogan of his presidential campaigns.

Carlson is an American journalist and former Fox News host known for his political commentary and lengthy, high-profile interviews. He hosted the prime-time program Tucker Carlson Tonight on Fox News from 2016 until his departure from the network in 2023. Since then he has built an independent media platform where he speaks with world leaders and other prominent figures, including a widely watched 2024 interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin. He has also been openly critical of aspects of US foreign policy, including Washington's approach to Iran.
WABC is a talk radio station based in New York that regularly hosts political interviews and commentary. The military operation Trump referred to relates to US air strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities carried out in June 2025 as part of Washington's confrontation with Tehran over its nuclear program.
Earlier remarks on Carlson
Trump had previously said Carlson apologised to him for criticising US policy on Iran. At the time, Trump described Carlson as a good guy. The two have a long history of public interactions; Carlson interviewed Trump several times during his 2024 presidential campaign.
