The idea of diving into freezing water would leave most people cold. But for Swedish TikTok sensation Erik Fellman, it’s icy cold coming and freezing cold going.
Almost every day and every winter, he jumps into the ice-cold water of his local, partially frozen swimming lake. He even relaxes during his rubber duck dive and sucks popsicles.
Moreover, he wears only shorts and a T-shirt during the snowy 15-minute walk there.
Erik documents his swimming moves on TikTok, with his shockingly cool videos earning him a total of 21.9 million likes on the app and over 310,000 followers. “Welcome to Sweden,” the 38-year-old says in a popular clip as he emerges from the glacial water.
He tells MailOnline Travel about his icy adventures: “I’m getting cold. I’m just not cold.’

Erik reveals that he can spend up to 20 minutes in the icy water of Huvudsta Strandbad, a municipal swimming lake outside Stockholm.
He even swims there at night – and lights candles on the ice.
Erik explains that he has “always had a lifelong cold tolerance”, but says he started cold diving five years ago because he wanted to swim all year round.
Dr. Naheed Ali of www.sleepbubble.com explained that cold immersion “retrains our physiology for resilience and promotes deeper sleep.”
Erik reveals that it actually helps him sleep at night, but adds: “People say that ice swimming has many health benefits, and that may be true, but I’m not sure. I hope that’s the case, but even if it’s not, I’ll still do it.”
How long do you have to stay there?
Erik says: “You shouldn’t try to break records.”
He continues, “Just get to know your own body and how it reacts when put in the deep end.”

He gives some tips to novice ice bathers, saying: “Don’t do it alone and mMake sure you bring enough clothes.
“And the best way to warm up afterwards is to exercise.” I raise my temperature by going home. “If you sit still, you won’t get so hot.”
