A tourist who stayed at the Vodoley resort in the village of Nizhegorodskaya in Russia's Krasnodar Krai described her holiday as "a series of disappointments," saying the property fell far short of what was advertised online. She shared her experience with the travel portal Tonkosti Turizma, and her review was published on the Dzen platform.
The reader told the outlet that photographs of the resort online had made the grounds look large, well kept and spacious, but that in reality there was almost no room to walk around. She said it felt less like being at a resort than standing in the cramped courtyard of a private house, and that the coziness promised in the advertising simply was not there.
Missing bedsheets and toiletries
The woman said she was struck to find no bedsheets in her room. Rather than resting after the journey, she and her fellow travelers had to track down an administrator to sort out the problem. She added that the room also lacked shower supplies and kitchen utensils.
She said the resort had no internet access and poor mobile signal, that the pools marketed as therapeutic were filled with ordinary water, and that breakfast consisted of sandwiches with butter, sausage or cheese.
A ruined birthday celebration
The tourist said a birthday celebration the group had planned to spend having fun, making noise and feeling comfortable ended up hopelessly ruined. Instead of resting, she said, they were left dealing with a string of practical problems, sorting out bedsheets, hunting for soap, arranging kitchen utensils, wandering the grounds in search of phone signal, and putting up with broken televisions and lukewarm pool water.
Similar complaints from other travelers
Krasnodar Krai, on Russia's Black Sea coast, is one of the country's most popular domestic holiday destinations, home to resort towns such as Sochi and Anapa that draw large numbers of Russian tourists especially during the summer and the early autumn "velvet season."
Another Russian traveler earlier visited a resort in Sochi and complained about a dirty bathroom, saying she was left speechless after finding a toilet that, according to her, had not been cleaned in weeks.
