Three people were killed and 15 others injured in an explosion at a restaurant in central Moscow, Russia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs reported.
The blast struck Kudrinskaya Square in the Russian capital. Police and emergency services rushed to the scene, and traffic near the square was temporarily suspended, according to Russian media.
Authorities said the cause of the explosion was under investigation. Reports suggested it may have been caused by a gas cylinder.
Reports identified the site as the Balzi Rossi fine dining restaurant. Russian Telegram channels said the restaurant had been closed for a private event at the time of the blast, and suggested the gathering could have been a birthday celebration for a Russian general. No official confirmation of that claim was provided.
