Theo James has ruled himself out of playing the next James Bond, addressing months of speculation that he was a leading contender to take over the role of Agent 007. Steven Knight has already been confirmed to write the screenplay, with Denis Villeneuve directing. No actor has yet been announced for the title role, fuelling widespread speculation over who will become the face of 007 for years to come.
Other names in the running
In recent years several actors have been rumoured as viable candidates to play Bond, among them Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Henry Cavill and Callum Turner. Theo James had also featured on that list, largely because his career has suggested he could fit a role of this scale. His latest comments now appear to take him out of contention.
