Biggest US opening ever

The new Spider-Man blockbuster became the largest domestic opening in US history, surpassing "Avengers: Endgame," which launched with $357 million in 2019. Rising ticket prices, up by a third in the US over the past seven years, also contributed to the result.

Global record still held by Endgame

"Avengers: Endgame" remains the worldwide opening-weekend leader with $1.22 billion and finished its run with $2.8 billion, making it the highest-grossing film in movie history. Disney later rereleased James Cameron's original "Avatar," which reclaimed the top spot with $2.9 billion.
