Cast members of The Sopranos paid tribute to Vincent Pastore on social media after news of his death broke on August 1. Pastore, who played Salvatore Bonpensiero on the series, was 80 years old.
Michael Imperioli, who played Christopher Moltisanti, called the news difficult and said he felt he had known Pastore for an eternity. Imperioli recalled that the two worked together extensively and traveled across the United States as well as to Italy and Australia, describing Pastore as a kind brother who cared deeply for his family and friends.
Jamie-Lynn Sigler, who played Meadow Soprano, called Pastore a wonderful actor and a kind, loving man, saying it had been an honor to know and work with him.
Joe Pantoliano, who played Ralph Cifaretto, said Pastore never lost his love for acting and that his enthusiasm always brought a smile to his face. Pantoliano extended condolences to Pastore’s family and loved ones.
Steve Van Zandt, who played Silvio Dante, called Pastore another irreplaceable brother. Lorraine Bracco, who played Dr. Jennifer Melfi, described the loss as heartbreaking, calling Pastore a funny, charming man and a beautiful soul.
Pastore played Bonpensiero for two seasons and returned to the role several times as a guest star.
