Apple TV's post-apocalyptic sci-fi series 'Silo' is leaving Amazon Prime Video, with August 13 set as the last day subscribers can watch it on Amazon's platform, according to the report.
The move ends what the report calls an unusual arrangement in which Apple allowed Prime Video subscribers to watch the first season of one of its most popular shows at no extra cost. The goal was to introduce the show to a wider audience ahead of the season three premiere, a strategy Apple has also used with other series at specific moments, the report said.
From August 14, 'Silo' will once again be exclusive to Apple TV, where the first, second and newly released third seasons will remain available. Anyone who has not started the series, or has not finished it, has only a few days left to do so on Prime Video.
What season three covers
Based on Hugh Howey's literary trilogy, 'Silo' is set in a future where the last survivors of humanity live confined in a massive underground silo. No one knows for certain what happened outside or why leaving amounts to a near-certain death sentence, while strict rules governing the community forbid questioning the official story.
The investigations of Juliette Nichols, played by Rebecca Ferguson, eventually uncover secrets that affect not only the silo where she lives but the very origin of the whole society, according to the report.
Season three adapts the final part of 'Shift' and continues developing the consequences of Juliette's discovery at the end of season two. It also widens the story's scope with new characters and more information about the world's past and the connections between the different silos scattered across the territory, the report said.
Season three arrived on Apple TV in July, answering only some of the questions left by the season two finale while raising several new ones. Some of those questions have gone unanswered since a first season that Prime Video subscribers have also been able to watch, though not for much longer.
