A new self-service dog washing station has opened in Tarbes, France, next to the Spa des Sens, offering pet owners a quick and affordable way to clean their dogs around the clock.
The station, called Wash Dog, was set up by Fabien Sanz, a physiotherapist who manages the site. He said the idea came from his own experience struggling to bathe his dog at home, where he described the process as an ordeal involving an ill-suited bathtub, an uncooperative dog, back pain from awkward positioning, and a bathroom to scrub down afterwards. He added that the service particularly addresses the needs of city dwellers without outdoor space to wash their pets.
The system works like a standard car wash, adapted for dogs. Users can park close by, and a secure enclosure with an opening makes it easier to lift animals onto the platform, where they can be secured. Several wash programmes are available, including shampoo, conditioner, antiparasitic treatment, rinsing and drying, all in under ten minutes and starting from six euros.
Sanz said the goal was to offer a solution accessible at any time of day or week, removing the usual hassle. The station operates seven days a week, 24 hours a day, and is described as the first of its kind in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
