Selena Gomez turned heads on the Emmy Awards red carpet in Los Angeles on Monday night, showing off fresh hair extensions and a shimmering gold Louis Vuitton gown, even though the 34-year-old actress missed out on an individual nomination this year.
Gomez wore a metallic strapless gown with a tiled design that hugged her curves. She swapped her usual slicked-back look for loose waves styled with the new extensions, and finished the look with dangling diamond-encrusted earrings, natural makeup and a pink lip.
Gomez was not nominated for her role in Only Murders in the Building, but the Hulu comedy series she stars in did earn a nomination for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Mariska Hargitay Hosts the 78th Emmy Awards
The 78th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Law & Order: SVU executive producer and star Mariska Hargitay hosted the ceremony, marking the first time in 15 years that a woman has hosted the show.
Nominations were announced in July, and among the most notable snubs were Euphoria's Sydney Sweeney, The Bear's Jeremy Allen White, and Stranger Things as a whole.
The Pitt and Hacks Dominate Nominations
The Pitt earned the most nominations of any show this year, with the HBO Max medical drama picking up 25 nods, nearly double the 13 it received last year. That total included 13 acting nominations, plus Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for star Noah Wyle and a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.
Hacks was close behind with 24 nominations for its fifth and final season, the most ever earned by a comedy series, beating the previous record of 23 shared by The Bear and The Studio. Star Jean Smart had the chance to win her fifth Emmy for the show and eighth overall, which would tie her for the most Emmy acting wins by an actress in history.
Apple TV's comedy horror series Widow's Bay made a strong debut with 19 nominations, while the streamer's drama Pluribus picked up 18. In the limited and anthology series categories, the second season of Netflix's Beef led with 16 nominations. Among broadcast networks, Saturday Night Live topped the field with 11 nominations.
HBO Max earned the most nominations of any platform this year with 122, including 13 for DTF St. Louis. In total, 555 programs were submitted across 14 categories this year, down 7.5% from 600 entrants last year. That included 110 dramas, 71 comedies, 31 limited or anthology series, 34 movies, 18 variety series and 45 reality competition shows. The two Creative Arts Emmy ceremonies were held the previous weekend, on Saturday, September 5, and Sunday, September 6.

Noah Wyle led The Pitt to wins for Outstanding Drama Series and Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series.
Rhea Seehorn won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Pluribus, beating out nominees including Zendaya for Euphoria and Keri Russell for The Diplomat.
Allison Janney won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for The Diplomat, while Tom Pelphrey took Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for Task.
On the comedy side, Widow's Bay won Outstanding Comedy Series. Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for Hacks, and Matthew Rhys won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Widow's Bay. Rhys also won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for The Beast in Me, making him the first actor to win two leading actor Emmys in one night.
Kate O'Flynn won Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series and Stephen Root won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, both for Widow's Bay.
Sally Field pulled off a surprise win for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Remarkably Bright Creatures, beating nominees including Claire Danes and Sarah Snook.
DTF St. Louis won Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and The Traitors won Outstanding Reality Competition Program. Stephen Colbert's The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, which has since been canceled, won Outstanding Variety Series.
Vince Gilligan won Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series for Pluribus, and Katie Dippold won Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series for Widow's Bay.
Saul Metzstein won Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for Slow Horses, and Hiro Murai won Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series for Widow's Bay.
