Actress Sarah Michelle Gellar and her husband Freddie Prinze Jr have taken to social media to mark the 14th birthday of their son Rocky, sharing a rare photograph that highlights the teenager's resemblance to his father.
The family update came just one day after the Hollywood couple celebrated the 17th birthday of their daughter, Charlotte.
Posting to Instagram on Sunday following her daughter's festivities, the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star shared a picture posing alongside her youngest child. In the photo, Rocky, who is already the same height as his mother, stands beside Gellar with an arm wrapped around her shoulders.
"And then, there were two," Gellar captioned the photo on Instagram.
Reflecting on his birth three years after her daughter's, the actress wrote: "Three years and one day later @rockyprinze came racing into our lives. I should have known from your speedy delivery, the excitement you would bring."
She added: "You have no idea how lucky I feel to watch you chase your dream. You inspire not just me, but everyone around you. Happy Birthday Rocky."
Celebration of marriage
The birthday celebration follows another personal milestone for the couple earlier this month, when Gellar commemorated 24 years of marriage to Prinze Jr, 50, by sharing memories with fans on social media.
Gellar took to Instagram to share several throwback photographs from the beginning of their relationship in the late 1990s. The pair first met on the set of the 1997 horror film I Know What You Did Last Summer, a teen slasher movie that launched both actors into mainstream stardom.
Captioning the image gallery, Gellar wrote: "@realfreddieprinze can you imagine telling these kids where they would be 24 years later (well tech 26… but 24 married) #happyanniversary."
Hollywood romance
Gellar and Prinze Jr were initial friends before their relationship developed into a romance. They dated for two years before marrying in 2002, building one of Hollywood's longest-lasting marriages.
Prinze Jr previously recalled the early days of their relationship during the premiere of the reboot of I Know What You Did Last Summer last year.
In an interview with Access Hollywood, the television entertainment program, Prinze Jr said: "We were friends for a good couple of years before any sort of date happened."
Speaking on The Howard Stern Show, the syndicated radio talk program, Prinze Jr explained how an unexpected circumstance led to their first date. "We were supposed to go out with a group of people, and everybody else bailed… so it was just the two of us," he said.
After dating for a few years, Prinze Jr proposed in 2001. The couple has kept the exact details of the proposal private, with Gellar previously explaining: "I didn't want a big public proposal. I wanted something private."
On-screen collaborations and family
Following their wedding in 2002, the couple worked together on several film projects. They starred as Fred Jones and Daphne Blake in the live-action Scooby-Doo feature film released in 2002, and reprised their roles in the 2004 sequel, Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed.
The two actors also voiced characters in the 2006 animated feature film Happily N'Ever After.
In the following years, they expanded their family, welcoming their first child, daughter Charlotte, in 2009, and their son Rocky in 2012.
