Ryanair passengers were forced to wait 15 hours at Krakow Airport after a technical fault delayed their flight to Liverpool, the Daily Mail reported. Flight FR6359 was due to depart at 08:55 on Monday but did not take off until 00:40 on Tuesday.
About 150 passengers waited near the departure gate, and each was given only one food voucher. Ryanair said the delay was caused by a minor technical fault with the aircraft, which meant a different plane had to be used for the flight.
Vouchers not worth a coffee
The airline told passengers that since their flight was delayed, they could get a free snack or drink by showing their boarding pass at partner outlets, with one voucher worth 17 Polish zloty, about £3.38, issued per boarding pass. Passengers were angry, since a coffee at the airport cost 21 zloty, about £4.17.
Marcin Tkaczyk, from Lancaster, said passengers were waiting near the gate and could have left, but would have had to go through security again, and there was nothing around the airport anyway, so it made no sense. He said no Ryanair representative was present to explain the situation to passengers.
