RTVE reshuffles foreign correspondents in four capitals

Spanish public broadcaster Radiotelevisión Española (RTVE) has restructured its news services, appointing new foreign correspondents to head key bureaus in Rome, London, Berlin and Lisbon.

The changes, introduced ahead of the new television season, involve four strategic international postings and mark the replacement of current bureau heads across all four European capitals.

Under the new assignments, journalist Lara Siscar will move to Rome to lead the bureau after spending the past season heading RTVE operations in Lisbon. She succeeds Begoña Alegría in the Italian capital.

Siscar has been linked to Televisión Española (TVE) since 2007, spending much of her career within the network's news department. Her past roles include working as a political reporter for Telediarios and Los desayunos de TVE, as well as presenting the weekend bulletin TD Fin de Semana for six years. She has also served as a special envoy to Jerusalem and participated in major news coverages.

New appointments in London and Berlin

Silvia Guerra will take over the London bureau, replacing Diego Arizpeleta. Guerra brings three decades of professional journalism experience, including nearly twenty years with TVE.

Guerra joined the broadcaster's international desk in 2020 and has reported as a special envoy from Iran and from the war in Ukraine. Her reporting on major international events includes covering the death of Queen Elizabeth II from London and that of Pope Francis from Rome.

In Berlin, Melanie Stüber has been appointed as the new correspondent, taking over from Alberto Freile. Stüber, who gained permanent staff status at RTVE through competitive examinations, previously worked on La Mañana, Telediario Matinal and news channel Canal 24 horas.

Since 2021, Stüber has been part of the society desk for Telediarios, specializing in science and space topics. Her coverage has included NASA missions, Spanish astronauts and the recent return to the Moon.

Lisbon bureau swap and award winning coverage

Completing the rotation, Begoña Alegría will assume charge of the Lisbon bureau, taking over the position vacated by Siscar. Alegría previously served as director of TVE News between 2018 and 2019 and has built most of her career in the channel's news services.

During her six years leading the Rome bureau, Alegría reported on events including the illness and death of Pope Francis and the papal conclave that elected Pope Leo XIV. Her coverage of those Vatican events earned the 2025 Ondas Award for best current affairs program.
