Romania’s Ministry of National Defense activated its RO-Alert emergency warning system in Tulcea county after radar detected an aerial target near the country’s river border with Ukraine, the ministry said in a post on X.
The ministry said its radar surveillance system picked up the aerial target in the border zone. The alert was subsequently cancelled after the object disappeared from radar.
The incident follows a series of drone intrusions. On July 26, Romanian President Nicusor Dan said an F-16 fighter jet had shot down a drone that entered Romanian airspace, adding that Romania had observed drones in its skies for three consecutive days. Bucharest expelled the Russian ambassador following those incidents.
