Rockfall Warning Issued at Pic Bazillac in the Pyrenees

French mountain rescue unit CRS Pyrénées has warned hikers and climbers of an increased risk of falling rocks at Pic Bazillac, on the route between the Brèche de Roland and Pic du Taillon.

The alert follows a recent rockfall on the southern faces of Pic Bazillac on the Spanish side of the mountain. Rescuers said the terrain had become unstable, causing frequent rockfalls along the normal Taillon route.

CRS Pyrénées issued the warning via social media, advising hikers and climbers to take the greatest care when passing below the walls of Pic Bazillac and to avoid stopping in the unstable zone identified by the unit.
