Beatles icon Ringo Starr showed off long locks and a bushy beard as he enjoyed dinner with his wife Barbara Bach in Malibu on Tuesday.

The 86-year-old musician looked worlds away from his classic boyband style as he headed to Italian restaurant Tra di No with his wife of 45 years and a group of friends. The outing took place 64 years to the day after Starr became a member of The Beatles, joining Paul McCartney, John Lennon and George Harrison in what became one of the most famous bands of all time.

Bach, 79, walked arm in arm with her husband, dressed in a cream jacket paired with purple trousers.

The former Bond Girl gained international fame starring as KGB agent Anya Amasova, also known as Agent Triple X, in the tenth James Bond film The Spy Who Loved Me. The 1977 movie focused on a plot by a megalomaniac to destroy the world and create a new underwater civilization.

Before her screen career, Bach was a prominent fashion model posing for magazines including Vogue and Elle. She also featured in a famous 1981 Playboy spread, published a year after she first caught the attention of the rock legend.

Marriage and family history

Starr and Bach married in 1981 after meeting on the set of the film Caveman the previous year. Today, the couple divide their time between residences in London, Los Angeles and Monte Carlo.

The early years of their marriage included severe trials, including a near-fatal car crash and battles with addiction. They eventually checked into rehab together, stepping back from their rock n' roll lifestyle to focus on charitable outreach work and vegetarianism.

Although they do not have children together, both brought families from prior marriages into their union. Bach shares two children, daughter Francesca, 47, and son Gianni, 44, with her former husband, Italian industrialist Augusto Gregorini, whom she divorced in 1978 after ten years of marriage.

Starr was previously married to hairdresser Maureen Cox, with whom he had three children: Zak, 60, Jason, 59, and Lee, 55. Starr and Cox split in 1975 following allegations of infidelity during their marriage. Cox later died of leukaemia in 1994.

Biopics and new music

While The Beatles have not performed together in half a century, the group will be featured in a major series of biopics directed by Sam Mendes in 2028.

Titled The Beatles - A Four-Film Cinematic Event, the production will star Barry Keoghan in the role of Starr and trace the band's rise to global fame.

Starr also recently reunited with Sir Paul McCartney, appearing on a track called Home to Us on McCartney's latest album last month. Sir Paul remarked on the recording: "Ringo's never done a duet with one of the Beatles."

Starr confirmed the collaboration during an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, noting that work on the track began two years ago with the drums recorded first. He explained: "It started two years ago with the drums, it was like in reverse, the drums went on first. It's amusing and very real because that is where we come from."

The song draws inspiration from their upbringing in Liverpool, an area Sir Paul described as being "a little rough, but home to us".
