Actor Richard Gere celebrated his 77th birthday on Monday alongside his wife, Alejandra Silva, who shared intimate family photographs on social media.
Silva, a 43-year-old Spanish publicist and activist who is 34 years Gere's junior, posted a photo set late at night showing the couple embracing lovingly during the celebration.

The couple's six-year-old son James joined in the festivities, though their seven-year-old son Alexander was not pictured in the birthday snapshots.
Writing in an Instagram caption alongside the photos, Silva expressed her devotion to the Hollywood icon. "No one I rather spend my life with, happy birthday, I love you, we love you [sic]," she wrote.

Silva showcased her figure in a sleeveless white ribbed dress as she held her husband close for a hug. Gere, wearing a pointy paper birthday hat over his white hair to match his wife and young son, flashed a warm smile for the camera while holding Silva tightly.
In another photograph, six-year-old James rushed toward the embracing couple to turn their hug into a family group embrace. The young boy looked sharp for the occasion in a blue button-up shirt paired with white linen pants.

Silva concluded her Instagram post with a casual snapshot of herself seated on a wooden bench outdoors. She petted one dog while an enormous black-and-white Alaskan Malamute towered beside her.
Social Media Posts and Nepal Relief Advocacy
The birthday update was shared across both Silva's and Gere's Instagram accounts. Gere took to his Instagram Stories to repost one of the romantic photos, adding the message, "I love you," at the bottom.

However, the veteran actor and humanitarian quickly shifted public attention away from his personal celebration to raise awareness for an international crisis.
In a subsequent Instagram Stories update, Gere wrote, "But my heart is also in Nepal," linking to a video documenting catastrophic flooding in the South Asian country.

The severe floods in Nepal have claimed the lives of more than 1,000 people, while thousands of residents remain missing across affected Himalayan communities.
Family History and Previous Marriages
Gere and Silva officially tied the knot in April 2018 in an intimate ceremony. The marriage marks the third for the Golden Globe winning actor and the second for Silva.

Later in 2018, the couple announced they were expecting their first child together. They welcomed their eldest son, Alexander, in February 2019, followed by their second son, James, in April 2020.
Gere was previously married to supermodel Cindy Crawford from 1991 to 1995. He later married Law & Order star Carey Lowell in 2002, with whom he shares a son, Homer Gere, born in 2000. Gere and Lowell separated in 2013 and finalized their divorce in 2016.

Silva was previously married to businessman Govind Friedland. The former couple wed in 2012 and welcomed their son Albert that same year, before separating in 2014 and finalizing their divorce in 2015.
Upcoming Film Projects in New York
While Silva did not specify the exact location of the family birthday gathering, Gere has recently been working on location in New York City.

Early last month, the veteran actor was photographed in Manhattan's Central Park filming scenes for an upcoming May-December romantic drama alongside 28-year-old actress Diana Silvers, who is 48 years his junior.
The film is an adaptation of Lisa Halliday's acclaimed 2018 debut novel Asymmetry. In the movie, Gere plays a renowned 70-year-old author who enters into a romantic relationship with an editorial assistant portrayed by Silvers, who is 25 in the story.
Set around the beginning of the Iraq War, the storyline follows the couple as their secret affair is unexpectedly exposed, creating significant personal and professional complications for both characters.
